The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division (JOID) supports a range of customers across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian agencies, and international markets. JOID provides analytical and programmatic capabilities to help clients make informed decisions on challenging issues. The Critical Infrastructure Group (CIG) within JOID supports national security missions for agencies like DHS, HHS, and FAA, focusing on countering WMD, infrastructure protection, emergency response, nuclear non-proliferation, weapons deployment, and transportation safety. CIG collaborates closely with clients to provide modeling, simulation, software, and analytical products meeting high standards and tight timelines. We are currently seeking a Sr. SME Model-Based Systems Engineer to support DHS Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in Washington, DC. This role offers a hybrid work schedule. Responsibilities Provide expertise and technical assistance across systems engineering and acquisition lifecycles for all program levels, including planning, coordinating, and implementing a Digital Engineering ecosystem for CBP. Assist in the development, oversight, and execution of strategies supporting the transition to Digital Engineering (DE) and Modeling & Simulation (M&S) in acquisitions. Participate in project teams to analyze DHS programs and systems; conduct data collection and specification reviews; develop and maintain system-of-systems models using MBSE tools. Support planning, implementation, and execution of systems engineering activities; perform requirements development, technical reviews, and lifecycle activities. Develop models of systems processes, simulations, analyses, and reports to support program decisions and strategic initiatives. Prepare and present authoritative advice and recommendations to diverse audiences including technical professionals and senior leadership. Qualifications Required: U.S. Citizen eligible for DHS Suitability and/or CBP Background Investigation Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience Understanding of DHS or DoD SELC, DHS Management Directive 102-01, DoD 5000, and Federal Acquisition Institute guidelines At least 3 years of industry experience in Modeling and Simulation (M&S) and/or Digital Engineering supporting acquisitions Ability to work fully onsite based on client needs Desired: Master's degree or CSEP certification 2+ years supporting a major DoD or DHS acquisition program Active CBP Background Investigation/Suitability and Top Secret clearance Practical experience with SysML or UML modeling Proficiency with Cameo Systems Modeler, Innoslate, or similar tools Experience developing architecture products like Operational, System, and Capability Views Salary range for Washington DC: $130k-$175k, commensurate with experience. #J-18808-Ljbffr Systems Planning & Analysis
